Facebook Contests Just Got Easier and More Useful

Want to hold a Facebook contest?

New Facebook rules make it easier for your business to grab likes and create engagement by hosting a promotion. Here's a summary.

First, make Facebook's rules clear. That means stating in the contest announcement that it's not administered or endorsed by Facebook, and that by entering, contestants release the social media giant from responsibility.

The new rules allow many things that were prohibited before, like requiring entrants to like, post or comment on your page. But entry still can't be done through sharing, photo tagging or personal timeline posts.

Social Media Posting Ideas for Businesses – PART III

This is our third installment of social media posting ideas for businesses, and we’re here with another five ideas that you can incorporate into your online marketing strategy. Plus, after you read through these suggestions, check out Part I and Part II for more ideas.

  1. Product and service updates and announcements. Did you recently upgrade your systems to allow you to do your business more efficiently? Or, perhaps customers can now connect with you on additional social media sites. Be sure to let them know! Example: Did you know that you can now track your work orders online? Click the link to start tracking today!
     
  2. Friendly reminders. Are you hosting a summer sale? Do you have seasonal tips that could save your clients a lot of time, money and effort? Example: There’s a high wind advisory in effect this weekend. Be sure to secure or bring in your patio furniture and garbage cans!
     
  3. Interesting links – local events, news, videos, or other pertinent or interesting information. Example: 5 Fun Philly Events for Summer www.FunPhillyEvents.com/Summer2013
     
  4. Customer testimonials (with client’s written permission). Example: “Gold Mountain Real Estate is a pleasure to work with. They made buying our new home a breeze and were with us every step of the way!” – Cheryl T., San Diego.
     
  5. Employee spotlight. Example: Joe Tanner has been with Bedford Management for 12 years, and has worked his way up from leasing consultant to regional manager in that time. Joe says the best part of his job is interacting with residents and problem solving.
